Duke-Energy Public Meeting

Duke Energy invites you to attend a public meeting on the Keowee-Toxaway Shoreline Management Plan (SMP) Update.

 

Date: Tuesday, December 9

Time: 4-8 p.m.

Location: Oconee Nuclear Station – World of Energy. 7812 Rochester Hwy, Seneca, SC 29672

 

This meeting provides an opportunity to learn about proposed updates, ask questions, and share feedback. Those residents that own or rent property at Lake Keowee or Lake Jocassee should be particularly interested, as the SMP provides requirements on what kinds of lake uses are allowed around the lakes. Duke Energy representatives will be there to answer any questions.

Why SMP Updates Matter
Shoreline Management Plans help balance recreational use, environmental protection and property development around our lakes. Every 10 years, Duke Energy must file a report with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) detailing whether revisions to the SMP are needed. To meet this requirement Duke Energy held several meetings with interested stakeholders, beginning in 2024, to gather information. The working group continued those meetings through 2025 to review and discuss the SMP. Now with recommended changes, this public meeting is being held in December.
