This section describes recommended practices for owners of homes on, or near, Lake Keowee and its feeder streams. The use of best-practices can save money and prevent problems for the homeowner, while helping to protect health, habitat, enjoyment of the waterways, and preserve property values. Some of this information was developed by Oconee-Pickens Clean Water Action (OPCWA)*.

The links to the left will lead you to information on:

  • Septic Systems: How to maintain performance, prolong useful life, and prevent costly problems.
  • Waterside Landscapes: How to design and construct beautiful, water-friendly, waterside landscapes.
  • Live Lakeside (Living at Lakeside) is a brochure which includes info on Lake Friendly Boating, Caring for Pets and Wildlife, Water Friendly Landscaping, Septic System Maintenance. Since this is a large pdf file (1.47 meg) we recommend it for high speed connects. Please use patience if on a dial-up connection.

These sections include where to get additional information, materials and related services.
