Community Involvement

In addition to its ongoing programs, FOLKS is interfacing more with local and state governmental agencies in order to monitor environmental issues, particularly those that may impact the Upstate of South Carolina. FOLKS has been instrumental in significant environmental input in drafts of new regulations and policies in Oconee and Pickens Counties.

FOLKS has ongoing programs to work with new developers to make them aware of the importance of protecting the lake because it is a valuable part of their investment.

Early on, the leadership developed a rewarding relationship with Clemson University, Duke Energy, The State Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) and the United States Department of Agriculture.
