The Duke's Keowee-Toxaway Project consist of three reservoirs: Bad Creek has an altitude of 2310 ft above sea level, Jocassee at 1110 and Keowee at 800 at full pond. All three produce hydropower. Jocassee and Bad Creek also serve as pump-storage reservoirs. During off-peak hours available surplus power is used to reverse the turbines and pump water from Keowee 'uphill' into Jocassee and from Jocassee into Bad Creek for release during peak hours.

The Project produces a total of 3000 mw of electricity by a combination of nuclear (2538 mw) and hydropower (750 mw).
